Hometown
This was an environment assignment I received in my Concept Art class that I wanted to use as the title screen of my Thesis.
In my story the main character is pretending to still live in the town he grew up in while the darkness of reality lurks in the back of his mind. I wanted the environment to show both the warm and familiar neighborhood as well as the forrest and the abandoned building that the character eventually travels to in the background.
This was the original sketch. Below are some other sketches I made to get a feeling of what might look best. I wanted to see if being inside the building or right outside the building would make for an interesting scene as well, but in the end I got the most response from the sketch above.
Miro Board:
I laid out the colors first in Procreate to get a sense of how the colors would go back into space. I wanted to have more warm colors up front and have them get more blue towards the back in order to separate the two environments as well as create atmospheric perspective.
