Don Quixote

This image was for an assignment involving the story of Don Quixote. I wanted to play around with the idea that Don thinks that he is a brave and powerful knight, meanwhile he is just an old man that everyone thinks is crazy. On the left the reality is shown in bleak colors while on the left there is a fantastical scene of the adventures he imagines inside his head.

This is the first sketch I showed to get feedback on. My main focus was to push the divide between the left and the right side of the portrait by using bright and unnatural colors on the right and darker colors on the left.

I really wanted to push the bounds of reality on the right side since its meant to be a fantastical scene. This is how i sketched out the composition.
