Large Scale Self Portraits

Dress Up (36”x48”) Acrylic on paper (2021).

During quarantine I got very into cosplay since it was a hobby that I could indulge in while being inside that didn’t require staring at a screen for hours on end. While at the time I found it fun, I lost a sense of my own identity by pretending I was someone else.

Virtual Reality (48”x60”) Acrylic and charcoal on paper (2021).

I created this work during the beginning of quarantine, as well as my first year of college. I found myself spending a lot of time online since not only were all my classes were online, but also it was my sole source of entertainment.

Life Sized Self Portrait Painting (60”x72”) Oil on canvas (2020).

This is an extension of the previous charcoal drawing I created in 2019, but rather solely showing myself with my private feelings I also wanted to show how i spend my free time as well as my hobbies and interests. I got really into record collecting around this time and was also teaching myself how to play the keyboard. As most people my age, I was also very invested in technology.

Life Sized Self Portrait (42”x72”) Charcoal on paper (2019).

This piece was meant to show how I struggle with stabilizing my mood, always wanting to come across as sweet and kind but tending to become bitter as time goes on. I depicted myself in the bathroom since its a very private place and I tend to keep the way I’m feeling a very private thing.
